Day 1-2-3 Rio de Janeiro
Our budget trips are perfect for those that are touring Brazil and want to meet new people by staying in a dorm room in a hostel. A transfer from the airport to the hostel is included, plus a Favela Tour and a Rio City Tour. Both tours can be done on the same day (week days only) with the choice to tour on the second or third day in Rio so as to have one full day free to explore Rio with the new friends you will meet in the hostel.
The Favela Tour is one of the most valuable tours in Rio - a large percentage of the population of Rio live in favelas, which can be regarded as separate cities. In the favelas, it is possible to find all sorts of facilities such as stores, gyms, hairdressing salons, bars and clubs. The favela tour puts you in close contact with this other side of Rio and shows you the day-to-day lives of the people that live there. By doing the Favela Tour in Rocinha, one of the biggest slums in the world, you will have a close view and understanding of this fascinating environment and will be directly helping its residents besides absorbing a bit of their culture.
The City Tour is done in the afternoon and will take you to the main highlights of Rio. You will start a beautiful journey with a visit to the top of the Corcovado Mountain and the famous Christ Redeemer - from where you have a magnificent 360 degree view of Rio and the Tijuca Forest. You will visit the arty Santa Tereza neighborhood and the Selaron stairways in the bohemian suburb of Lapa. You will also visit the colorful Metropolitan Cathedral in downtown and finish your tour by taking the cable car to the top of Sugar Loaf Mountain and its stunning views of Guanabara Bay and the beautiful beaches of Rio de Janeiro (you can stay longer at Sugar Loaf or return to the hostel).
Among many other things to do with your free time, you can go for a walk on the famous Copacabana promenade, visit the Botanical Gardens, cycle around Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas or go hang-gliding from Pedra Bonita (600m high) for a breathtaking view! You still have the chance to join the football addicts cheering for their teams and be amazed by the atmosphere in the Olympic stadium. Check with us which games are on at the time that you are in Rio.

INDEPENDENT TOURS run all year round and are guaranteed to depart* with a minimum of 1 traveller. You choose a tour or destination, the best date to start and travel independently, without the presence of a Tour Leader. All you'll have to do is simply arrive and enjoy your stay in Brazil. We'll take care of the organizational part for you (accommodation, transportation and activities included as specified in the tour description).
Independent Tours are ideal for single travellers, couples, honeymooners, and friends that travel in small groups (up to 4 people).
They are also a great alternative for those of you who are not able to join a Group Tour departure because the dates don't match with your vacation time or for those of you that wish to extend your holiday in Brazil with a few more destinations.
The itinerary presented is a guideline. Things may change with little or no notice due to local circumstances such as weather conditions, difficult access and other unpredictable or unforeseeable circumstances, events or any factor that might put the safety or well-being of our clients at risk.
